Bandung: Facts and Figures

Bandung is the capital city of West Java, Indonesia. located in high elevation, and surrounded by mountain range, Bandung has a cool climate for tropical country. It is also the third largest city in Indonesia after Jakarta and Surabaya.

On the north of the city is the Tangkuban Perahu - a mountain with the shape of an upside-down boat, hence the name -. volcanic activity around Tangkuban Perahu has created fertile soil, which is good for planting tea, fruit, and rice paddy. While on the south and east area of the city the Cikapundung river can be found.

Bandung official name is called "Bandoeng" which get its naming during the days of Dutch East Indies. Also because of that Bandung also is the home of numerous Dutch colonial architecture style.

During the writing of this article, Bandung is considered as popular destination spot for tourism, not only by local citizen mostly from Jakarta, and Bandung surrounding cities, but also from foreign countries like Malaysia, Singapore, China, and Middle East Countries. As result every weekend every tourism spot in Bandung is exceptionally crowded.
